After receiving her M.Sc. from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Dr. Porel joined Prof. V. Ramamurthy’s group at University of Miami, Florida, USA for the Ph.D. program. She did her Ph.D. on Organic Supramolecular Photochemistry and explored the important characteristics of organic supramolecules that have a key role in modulating photochemical properties of organic molecules. Thereafter she moved to Columbia University, New York, USA for postdoctoral study. There she worked on a tri-institutional collaborative project involving Columbia University, Harvard University, and Genia Technology. In that project, she designed and synthesized the library of novel polymer tagged nucleotides for single-molecule nanopore-based DNA sequencing. After successfully finishing the project, she went to Cornell University, New York, USA for her second postdoc. At Cornell, she developed a novel strategy to build sequence defined polymers and explored their antibacterial properties. In September 2017, Dr. Porel joined the Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad as an assistant professor. Her research work is focused on the design and synthesis of novel classes of organic macromolecules and their application in material science.
