Dr. Narayanan Chatapuram is an Associate Professor in the Department of Data Science at Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Palakkad, India. His doctorate degree PhD in Computer Science and Engineering at Arizona State University. His dissertation focused on developing a computational framework for wearable accelerometer based activity and gesture recognition. He developed a real-time ambulatory activity recognition system and designed algorithms for recognizing activity gestures from accelerometer data. He also worked at the Center for Cognitive Ubiquitous Computing. He worked on research projects aimed at developing assistive technology for individuals who are blind and visually impaired.
