Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad&nbsp;(IIT Palakkad or IIT PKD) is a public autonomous&nbsp;engineering&nbsp;and&nbsp;research&nbsp;institute located in&nbsp;Palakkad,&nbsp;Kerala. It was&nbsp;one of the five new&nbsp;IITs&nbsp;proposed in the&nbsp;2014 Union budget of India. The campus was inaugurated on 3 August 2015. The institute has 94 faculty, 978 students, and 63 non-teaching staffs.

IT Palakkad currently offers four-year Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) and two years MS programmes in 8 different engineering disciplines including&nbsp;Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil among others.

The challenges in classical way of inventory log are human mathematical ability, paper maintenance, untidy process of editing and chances of missing the data of invoice and outward. The proposed idea is to develop an inventory management application using Tkinter and SQLite platform that creates a way towards progressively from traditional applications to a fully connected and customized inventory management system. This application uses password encryption to ensure the data privacy between the administrators and other workers of the industry. The system utilizes the integration of Tkinter and SQLite for the effective Graphical User Interface interfaced with Relational Database Management System. This customized application enables the administrator to add a new employee or remove the existing employee, he can update the stock quantity, and can back up the invoice history. Due to the login feature, the details of the product outward such as who withdrew and when it was withdrawn are automatically stored in the database. This digitization of inventory management system increases flexibility, reliability, smart storage, resource utilization, easy access to product location and warehouse management. It would be one time investment no further investment needed if at all any problem or errors occur in the app by human mishandling. The application saves us a lot of time because it uses SQL in it which is structured language, the data can be retrieved soon without any time delay and the human errors are avoided due to its structured nature.

Bioorthogonal late-stage diversification of structurally complex peptides has enormous potential for drug discovery and molecular imaging. In recent years, transition-metal-catalyzed C−H activation has emerged as an increasingly viable tool for peptide modification. Despite major accomplishments, these strategies largely rely on expensive palladium catalysts. A flow-metallaelectro-catalyzed C-H activation was realized in terms of robust rhodaelectro-catalyzed alkyne annulations. To this end, a modular electro-flow cell with a porous graphite felt anode was designed to ensure efficient turnover. Thereby, a variety of C-H/N-H functionalizations proved amenable for alkyne annulations with high levels of regioselectivity and functional group tolerance, viable in both an inter- or intramolecular manner. The electro-flow C-H activation allowed easy scale up, while in-operando kinetic analysis was accomplished by online flow-NMR spectroscopy. Mechanistic studies suggest an oxidatively induced reductive elimination pathway on rhodium(III) in an electrocatalytic regime. © 2019 American Chemical Society.

Flow Rhodaelectro-Catalyzed Alkyne Annulations by Versatile C-H Activation: Mechanistic Support for Rhodium(III/IV)

The increasing prevalence of fentanyl and its analogues as contaminating materials in illicit drug products presents a major hazard to first responder and law enforcement communities. Electrochemical techniques have the potential to provide critical information to these personnel via rapid, facile field detection of these materials. Here we demonstrate the use of cyclic square wave voltammetry (CSWV) with screen-printed carbon electrodes (SPCE), modified with the room temperature ionic liquid (RTIL) 1-butyl-1-methylpyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide [C4C1pyrr][NTf2], toward such rapid "on-the-spot" fentanyl detection. This CSWV-based disposable sensor strip system provides an information-rich electrochemical fingerprint of fentanyl, composed of an initial oxidation event at +0.556 V (vs Ag/AgCl) and a reversible reduction and oxidation reaction at -0.235 and -0.227 V, respectively. The combined current and potential characteristics of these anodic and cathodic fentanyl peaks, generated using two CSWV cycles, thus lead to a distinct electrochemical signature. This CSWV profile facilitates rapid (1 min) identification of the target opioid at micromolar concentrations in the presence of other cutting agents commonly found in illicit drug formulations. The new protocol thus holds considerable promise for rapid decentralized fentanyl detection at the "point of need". © 2019 American Chemical Society.

Ionic Liquid-Modified Disposable Electrochemical Sensor Strip for Analysis of Fentanyl

Neurochemicals such as dopamine, glutamate, GABA, adenosine, and serotonin are efficient indicators for quantifying the dynamics of many brain disorders. Both in vivo and in vitro detection strategies for those neurochemicals are important in treating various human diseases. Along with common, conventional tools (e.g., microelectrodes, biosensors, spectrophotometry, Fourier transform infrared, Raman, chromatography, fluorescence, flow injection, and capillary electrophoresis), electrochemical sensors based on nanomaterials (NMs; e.g., graphene, carbon nanotubes, molecular imprinted polymers, metal organic frameworks, and metallic nanoparticles) have emerged as potent tools for the quantitation of neurochemicals due to their robust designs, selectivity, sensitivity, precision, and accuracy. The performance of the latter varies widely because of differences in their sensing efficiencies. This review provides a brief introduction to those electrochemical sensors with a detailed overview of the latest trends, limitations of NM-based sensing techniques, and the potential for their future expansion for various neurochemicals. © 2018 Elsevier B.V.

Nanomaterial-based electrochemical sensors for the detection of neurochemicals in biological matrices

The 4-amino-1,8-naphthalimide Tröger's base functionalized triazine covalent organic polymer TB-TZ-COP was synthesised and employed as a "turn-on" fluorescent and a colorimetric sensor for the discriminative sensing of volatile organic compounds; the TB-TZ-COP displaying the largest fluorescent enhancement and high sensitivity for 1,4-dioxane, a harmful environmental pollutant classified as a Group 2B carcinogen. © 2019 The Royal Society of Chemistry.

"Turn-on" fluorescence sensing of volatile organic compounds using a 4-amino-1,8-naphthalimide Tröger's base functionalised triazine organic polymer

This work reports the bifunctional catalytic activity of layered K-doped α-CrO(OH). The combined action of the redox active Cr(iii) and the surface hydroxyl groups was efficiently used to carry out 2-3 oxidation reactions in tandem followed by condensation/coupling reactions in one pot. Oxidation of benzyl alcohol followed by Knoevenagel condensation or coupling reactions forming C-C and C-N linkages in one pot is demonstrated. The catalyst has been characterized using XRD, IR, TGA, CO2-TPD, cyclic voltammetry, XPS and microscopic techniques to gain insight into the nature of active sites. The role of O- and O2- on the CrO(OH) catalyst in the bifunctional activity was studied using analytical techniques. Recyclability and leaching tests confirmed that K-α-CrO(OH) is a stable and environmentally safe catalyst. © 2019 The Royal Society of Chemistry.

Efficient bifunctional reactivity of K-doped CrO(OH) nanosheets: Exploiting the combined role of Cr(iii) and surface -OH groups in tandem catalysis

Drastic industrial development has occurred in the pharmaceutical field for the last two decades for the sake of public health. The modern trend in the pharmaceutical industry is to detect and to quantify various analytes in complex matrixes at submicron concentrations. Thus, the chemical sensors and biosensors with improved performances for rapid, reliable, efficient, and cost-effective monitoring are highly required in the pharmaceutical industry. During the last decade, the incorporation of nanomaterials into chemical sensors and biosensors has boosted the advances in this area leading to relevant enhancements of their performance. The chemical sensors and biosensors embedded with nanomaterials can lead to an increase in their applicability in all stages of drug development such as purity of the drug, stereochemistry of the manufactured drug, and chiral separation and enantio-specific detection of the desired drug from the matrix. Nanomaterials coupled devices can also play an important role in preclinical and real-world analysis such as drug delivery study of the developed drugs, drug-to-drug interaction, metabolic studies, drug excretion analysis, and drug detection. This chapter will provide an overview of the role of carbon nanomaterials in the pharmaceutical industry to develop the biosensors for detection of various drugs by using electrochemical methods. © 2019 Elsevier Inc. Nanomaterial-based electrochemical sensors in pharmaceutical applications

A method is described for electrochemical oxidation of polymers on the surface of screen-printed electrodes (SPCE). These act as scaffold layers for homogeneous deposition of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). Hexamethylenediamine (HMDA) and poly(ethylene glycol) were immobilized on the SPCE surface via electrochemical oxidation. AgNPs were then electrodeposited on the scaffolds on the SPCE. This type of different carbon chain containing materials like PEG and HMDA act as big tunnels for electron mobility and are useful for the homogenous deposition of AgNPs on the SPCE surface without agglomeration. The resulting sensor was applied to the determination of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as a model analyte. It is found to display favorable catalytic and conductive properties towards the reduction of H2O2. Cyclic voltammetry and amperometry revealed that the modified electrode performs better than other modified SPCEs. Best operated at a potential of around −0.61 V (vs Ag|AgCl), the amperometric response is linear in the 10–180 μM H2O2 concentration range and the detection limit is 1.5 μM. The sensor is stable and reproducible. The resultant sensor was appplied to toothpaste analysis, and good recovery values were gained.
