Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad&nbsp;(IIT Palakkad or IIT PKD) is a public autonomous&nbsp;engineering&nbsp;and&nbsp;research&nbsp;institute located in&nbsp;Palakkad,&nbsp;Kerala. It was&nbsp;one of the five new&nbsp;IITs&nbsp;proposed in the&nbsp;2014 Union budget of India. The campus was inaugurated on 3 August 2015. The institute has 94 faculty, 978 students, and 63 non-teaching staffs.

IT Palakkad currently offers four-year Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) and two years MS programmes in 8 different engineering disciplines including&nbsp;Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil among others.

Classifying the zero-temperature ground states of quantum field theories with finite charge density is a very interesting problem. Via holography, this problem is mapped to the classification of extremal charged black brane geometries with anti-de Sitter asymptotics. In a recent paper [1], we proposed a Bianchi classification of the extremal near-horizon geometries in five dimensions, in the case where they are homogeneous but, in general, anisotropic. Here, we extend our study in two directions: we show that Bianchi attractors can lead to new phases, and generalize the classification of homogeneous phases in a way suggested by holography. In the first direction, we show that hyperscaling violation can naturally be incorporated into the Bianchi horizons. We also find analytical examples of "striped" horizons. In the second direction, we propose a more complete classification of homogeneous horizon geometries where the natural mathematics involves real four-algebras with three dimensional sub-algebras. This gives rise to a richer set of possible near-horizon geometries, where the holographic radial direction is non-trivially intertwined with field theory spatial coordinates. We find examples of several of the new types in systems consisting of reasonably simple matter sectors coupled to gravity, while arguing that others are forbidden by the Null Energy Condition. Extremal horizons in four dimensions governed by three-algebras or four-algebras are also discussed. © 2013 SISSA.

Seventh European Workshop on Immune-Mediated Inflammatory Diseases 2012 Noordwijk aan Zee, The Netherlands, 28-30 November 2012 The European Workshop on Immune-Mediated Inflammatory Diseases aims to exchange scientific knowledge and promote the collaboration between various disciplines (rheumatology, dermatology and gastroenterology) among physicians and scientists. This year ophthalmologists and neurologists were also present for the first time. The meeting revolved around the following topics: fibrosis, gene therapy in ophthalmology, functional genomics, challenges in human immunology, environmental factors, diabetes and metabolism, novelties in multiple sclerosis and innate lymphoid cells. The workshop was preceded by a masterclass that covered the last 15 years of IL-17/Th17 research and provided an overview on future therapeutics to battle immune-mediated inflammatory diseases. © 2013 Expert Reviews Ltd.

Theoretical Studies Of The Thermodynamics And Kinetics Of Selected Single-Molecule Systems

Design and development of a metal contact switch that employs micro electromechanical systems (MEMS) based on electrostatic actuation and implemented using a coplanar waveguide (CPW) with three switch cells is presented. The design is based on the series-shunt switch configuration. The main objective of the present design is to achieve high isolation up to 12GHz frequency (X-band). The dimensions of the MEMS switch have been optimized with finite element method based Coventor Ware software. The switch has been fabricated using gold based surface micromachining process. The mechanical response, electrical response, switching time, loss performance and Intermodulation distortions of the MEMS switch have been experimentally investigated. Return loss better than 15dB and isolation greater than 60dB have been experimentally obtained upto 12GHz from the fabricated switch. © 2013 IEEE.

Fabrication and characterization of RF MEMS high isolation switch upto X-band

The design, development and characterization of single-pole-double-through (SPDT) switch using micro electromechanical systems based inline-metal contact switch is presented in this paper. The switch employs electrostatic actuation and is implemented using coplanar waveguide. The design is based on the series-shunt configuration consisting of six cantilever type switches. The main objective of the present study is to achieve high-isolation, good input/output match, low insertion loss and small size to fit into Ku-band transmit/receive module. The device has been fabricated using gold based surface micromachining process. The mechanical, electrical, transient, intermodulation distortion and loss performance of MEMS switch have been experimentally investigated and validated. Measured return loss of better than 22dB with worst case insertion loss of 1.4 dB and isolation greater than 45dB have been experimentally achieved from SPDT switch over 13-17 GHz. The total switch area is 1.25 mm2. The performance of the switch is finally compared with the present state-of-the-art. © 2013 IEEE.

Design and development of miniaturized high isolation MEMS SPDT switch for Ku-band T/R module application

This paper deals with a continuous-time state-dependent jump linear system. In particular, we consider a situation when the transition rate of the random jump process depends on the state variable, and addressed the problem of stochastic stability analysis and control synthesis for the proposed system. Numerically solvable sufficient conditions for the stochastic stability of the proposed system are established in terms of linear matrix inequalities. The state feedback controller is accordingly developed. The obtained results are illustrated in numerical examples. © 2013 IEEE.
